Burnaby Fire Fighters Charitable Society

The executive officers of the Association are also the four directors of the Burnaby Fire Fighters Charitable Society.  As such, they receive no remuneration or any other benefits for the work they do on behalf of the Society.  There are not any paid employees, and the directors volunteer their time to administer to the business of the Society.

Although we attempt to support Burnaby-based charities, our Society contributes to more than 40 Lower Mainland charitable and community organizations.  This includes sizeable annual donations to the Burnaby Hospital Foundation (in particular the pediatric emergency ward before it was closed down), the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation, the Sunny Hill Foundation, The Food Bank, BC Special Olympics, BCPFF Burn Fund, Dry Grad ceremonies at all Burnaby High Schools, Burnaby Seniors Outreach Society, Burnaby Christmas Bureau, Pacific Assistance Dogs Society, Vancouver Rape Relief, Variety Club and many others.

It is this type of charitable and community work for which we received the Community Service Award at the 2001 Burnaby Business Excellence Awards.  It is an award our members treasure because it is something that they all made possible through their own selfless donation of time and effort.

In order to continue funding the commitment we have made to these many charities, we have set up the Burnaby Fire Fighters Charitable Endowment Fund.  We hope to raise up to $2,000,000 that will then generate its’ own revenue which can be used to make donations without touching the principal amount.  We have already put $85,000 into the Fund and will continue to work towards achieving our goal.  Our members are committing their own money to this effort, and 74 of them will contribute a total of over $10,000 this year through payroll deduction.  We know this number will grow in the coming years.  If you would like to assist our charitable efforts, please click on the link below.
